Every year in the end of july, there is a huuge funfair in Düsseldorf (apparently the largest not permanent one in Europe) with a kickass fireworks show to match it. Düsseldorf is only 2 and a half hours by car from here (small country for the win), so Rob, Patrick and I headed to the funfair friday evening. It was absolutely very large, and it seemed as if the whole city was there, as well as several dutch people that probably had the same idea as us. Despite the large crowd, the lines to the rides were not too bad at all, and they had quite a few really nice ones, including a tall swingtower and two spinning rollercoasters.
My personal favorite was the Höllenblitz – an inside rollercoaster, with light effects and water. From the outside it appeared to be a small rollercoaster with a mining theme, then on the inside it looked like a disco at first, then like christmas, cars constantly spinning round and round. It also went through a small waterfall (Rob got really wet!! ^^) and almost stopped to be “shot at” by flames. All in one ride, it was amazing because it was so random and I just couldn’t stop laughing! ^^
As for the fireworks show, it was pretty amazing, here are some of my best pictures:
We got home from Düsseldorf around 3 AM, agreeing it had been an awesome evening 🙂
